Hi, my name is Lynore

It's nice to meet you. I'm a recent NYC transplant from the sunny land of south Florida. My husband was transferred to the Financial District for work a few years ago, and I though it probably wasn't appropriate to stay in south Florida without him.

It was a hard move, people. I'm not a crier, and I cried. Why doesn't the sun come out in NYC? I just don't get it.

After a bit, the city started to looking better - kinda like that favorite pair of jeans.

How can you not love this view? Ok, NYC, you got me. I love you!

I decided, hey, I live in the best city in THE WORLD. Heck, I'm going to take advantage of it!

So, what you'll find here is my love for NYC. Alert: If you are looking for anything in Times Square, this is not for you.

This means you'll learn about food. Lots of food. I like to eat. I pretty much think about food the minute I wake up. My husband is the same. Yesterday, as we finished our last delicious bite of a green falafel for lunch, he looked completely troubled. "What are we eating for dinner?" he questioned as if his life depended on it. So, yea, food. I'll make sure you find out about some pretty good places to eat in all price ranges (probably not the super fancy stuff though).

You'll also find out things to do in NYC. This includes all sorts of things - neighborhoods, parks, day trips. I've learned to be creative without a car.

Lunchin' & Walkin' SoNo

Welcome to SoNo Is it fall already? I know what you're thinking. SoNo? Doesn't she mean SoHo? Nope, I really really mean SoNo. It's a little town off the Metro North in Connecticut called South Norwalk. If you looking for a quick, easy day out of the city, check out SoNo. It's full of trendy cafes, lots of green, and even Frisbee golf! From Grand Central, take the Metro North to South Norwalk. If you travel on the weekends or a holiday, you get the off peak prices. The trip from Grand Central to SoNo is just over an hour. The main street, Washington, is about a 5 minute walk to the train station (and the reason I picked this town for lunch). Although it looks spread out here, it's all pretty close! We headed straight for Washington Street since we were pretty hungry. I almost wish we shopped our lunch options a little more wisely, but some people were more hungry than others.  Donvon's  provided us a nice, shady table outside on the corner ...

Yes, this is in Manhattan

Want to stay in Manhattan but not feel like your in Manhattan? Is Central Park so overcrowded you're starting to think you are missing a free giveaway (but you could be)? Head to the very northwest tip of Manhattan. Here you'll find a few miles of walking trails, stunning views of the Hudson, and glorious peace and quiet. Plus, it's two parks in one! Inwood Hill Park This park is home to the only forest on the island of Manhattan. Plus, there's a TON of history here. There's even evidence that Native Americans used this land in the 17th century. Fortunately, the land remained untouched during the wars - and now it's ours to enjoy.  We brought the dogs here for a fun hike. To access the hiking trails, we took the the A train to Dykman Street. Head west on Dykman Street. Just after Payson Ave, look for the entrance to the hiking trail. We took the red trail and looped around to the white trail to walk by the water.
